Tomorrow is my movie debut. For those who do not know there is a rally, march and lobbying of MPs tomorrow in London. It is to protest against the welfare reform bill, which if passed will see a raft of negative changes to disabled people and their lives. Even as I write this I find myself ‘seeing’ the words. Partly I dare imagine real impact of a future imparted on me with these drastic cuts, and partly it the words are like a chorus of a pop song you know off by heart, but begin to sing the words without interpreting them.
To reiterate the meaning of these words – ‘the cuts are wrong and bad’! This is why I am marching and this is why I have agreed to allow a film crew in my house tomorrow at 8am to document the importance. They are going to carry out voxpops throughout the day but wanted to follow someone such as myself from the start. It will depict the ‘routine’ but additional steps it takes for me to leave the house. They will then follow my views on the speakers at the rally, the march, my hopes and fears, before wrapping up the day.
I understand the video will be used on the Guardian website, but I will let you know when and where exactly after editing. In the meantime get yourself to the rally or follow my day on twitter @martynsibley and my blog tomorrow night. From one big passion to another, I am off to see Tottenham battle Man City. The life of one passionate guy hey…
