Weekly Recap: Navigating a Fast-Paced Week Amidst Challenges

This week has flown by incredibly fast. It started on a challenging note with the unsettling news of riots across the country. However, the week has ended on a more positive note with some great developments in my personal projects.

Purple Power: Driving Positive Change in Transport Accessibility

One of the most exciting updates from my Purple Power content is the continuation of the dialogue sparked by my viral taxi app video. The video garnered substantial support, highlighting the transport challenges faced by disabled people. This week, I had the opportunity to meet with the team at Free Now, who were not only open to listening to my concerns but also eager to explore solutions to prevent similar issues in the future. This meeting felt like a significant step toward closing the transport gap for disabled individuals.

Purple Goat Agency: In Conversation with TUI Travel.

A highlight for Purple Goat Agency this week is the release of our latest podcast episode featuring Marina Snellenberg from TUI Travel. We’ve worked closely with TUI to promote accessible tourism, and it was fantastic to sit down with Marina to discuss the progress and potential of our partnership. You can watch the episode with captions here.

Purple Collective: A Teaser for What’s Coming

I’m thrilled to share that the Purple Collective is ready for launch next week! I’m very excited to unveil this new disability cooperative for micro activism. Stay tuned for a full introduction to the Purple Collective next week.

Projects: Bridging Different Focuses for Synergy

This week, I’ve noticed some fascinating overlaps between my various projects. For instance, there’s been a conversation about hosting a community-powered webinar on inclusive air travel, in collaboration with Proximo Group/Open Road Access (ORA) and Rights on Flights. Similarly, another corporate I support around Spinal Muscular Atrophy, is showing interest in supporting the Rights on Flights campaign.

However, there was some disappointment with the Civil Aviation Authority recent report, which didn’t fully address the challenges faced by disabled travelers. You can read our response on the Rights on Flights IG.

In the realm of entrepreneurship and citizening, I had an inspiring conversation with a budding entrepreneur who’s applied to the Tech Nation Creo Incubator. It’s always exciting to see new business ideas taking shape.

Additionally, I’m preparing to speak at an event in October with Jon Alexander on “Adventures in Democracy,” which is shaping up to be an incredible discussion. I also had a great preparation conversation with the team from Social Care Futures, where I’ll be speaking at their conference in Manchester in September. I’m very excited about moving the conversation forward regarding social care.

This wasn’t everything, but hopefully gives you a nice snapshot. Have a great weekend.
