Victoria’s Secret: Progress in Inclusion – What’s Next?

Rcently, the iconic Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show returned, and this time, it took a bold step toward diversity and inclusion. Seven disabled models, including Lila Moss, graced the runway, showcasing the brand’s commitment to embracing a broader spectrum of beauty. Lila, who has type 1 diabetes, walked proudly with her insulin pump visible—a powerful statement of representation for those living with medical conditions.

This milestone is worth celebrating, but it also raises an important question: how do we ensure this is more than just a one-off moment? At Purple Goat, we believe that inclusion isn’t a box to tick; it’s an ongoing commitment that requires authentic storytelling and real collaboration with disabled communities.

For example, with our expertise we’d have supported Victoria’s Secret to amplify this moment through the voices of disabled influencers. These influencers not only bring reach but also genuine connection to the disabled community and beyond, sparking conversations that resonate deeply. With our insights, we could help craft campaigns that turn milestones into movements—building trust, driving engagement, and creating lasting impact.

A big thank you to Beth Forsyth and Beth Sadler, two of our incredible account managers at Purple Goat, for brainstorming this discussion with me and always going the extra mile to support our clients.

What do you think about Victoria’s Secret’s new approach? How can brands continue to build on these efforts to ensure true inclusion, for the benefit of everyone in society?
